Hi: I am active in the 2002faq board as well and a bunch of people are caravaning from all points converging on Watkins Glen on Thursday. The drive starts from WV in the AM. Anyone interested, please email me for additional information at:

WG

I am bowing out of the Watkins Glen event due to work conflicts.

Hopefully, there will be a better Coupe showing than at Lime Rock this past weekend. Only Mike B, John C and I were there along with one other coupe (and two '02s). A poor showing for BMW, frankly, considering the weather forecast (weather was outstanding all three days) and the number of coupes that I know are local to New England. The LRP event is becoming one of the premier vintage events in New England and one that local coupe owners should make every attempt to get to. Its also a great event to see a wide variety of other cars beyond BMWs.

We did enjoy seeing the Alpina prepared Gosser racing CSL which, I am assuming, will be at Watkins Glen also. Neat car.

As a side note, the local Boston chapter concours show is on Sunday, 9/9. This year the Boston chapter is combining with the Genesee chapter so hopefully we will see some different cars. I know of two coupes coming that have not been there before so if you are local to Westford, MA., please make an effort to come and show off your coupe!

For those of you going to WG, enjoy!

I'm planning on leaving NYC at 10Am to arrive in Watkins Glen by 5P or so...

Despite a shaky weather forecast (30% chance of rain) past Thursday...I hope we get a decent coupe & 2002 turnout...

On a side note: the wife tells me there are events at Bard College/Dia Beacon near the end of September that would make a good coupe outing....

I will need to cancel my plans for WG.
I just got the call informing me of a death in the family.
You can ask my mechanic about the Herculean feats he performed to get some radiator problems worked out in time for me to go!
Next year...

Sorry for your loss, Stan.

I also went crazy getting ready for this event, but it wasn't meant to be...

I'm saying "next year" now, but who knows?

Hey Stan,

Ouch!!

Condolences to you and your family.

Seems that many of us in the Baby-Boomer demographic are getting acquainted with mortality & caregiving issues, in stark contrast to the "me-generation" label.

Will look forward to seeing you and your coupe at the appropriate opportunity.

Be well,

Chuck

Thanks guys,
I cancelled my hotel room.
If my registration packet has any memrabilia, snag it for me. I don't know if they will let others pick up but if they do...
Stan

Same goes for me re: the registration packet. Chuck, could we impose on you to pick up our packets? I already notified John Merrill I would not be attending.

Awesome day at the Glen! Fantastic laps on the track ... and great runs thru the area on long twisty roads. An outstanding arrays of cars, literraly hundreds of impressive makes and models. The Bmw Tour de Marque had about 95 cars; many 2002's, but alas only 4 coupes. Pics and video to follow.
