Good info, the only point I see there that differs from my understanding is the position of the throttle butterfly edge at idle. It says that it should cover only 1/2 or less of the first progression hole, whereas others have written that it should cover the entire hole so that the trailing edge immediately starts to open the hole on tip-in. And of course it’s critically important to have all 2 or 3 carbies doing exactly the same together. Setting it up with 1/2 or less covered will give a smooth idle but will give flat spots on tip-in.
Yes, and the reason people have it uncovered is to get the rpms up so it idles smoothly but it wrecks tuning accuracy. The 123 distributor solves this by alowwing higher idle through additional advance while keeping the butterflies where they should be.
