What does Ladung mean?

The "L" on my dash instruments lights does not turn off. Can somebody tell me why this light is on and how to correct. Thanks, Rique

The "L" idiot light indicates that your alternator is not charging, the first thing to do is check the belt - you would be overheating too. Next, check your voltage regulator. If that is OK you need a new alternator. If that was the problem and I were in your shoes I would opt for a 65 amp alternator with the internal voltage regulator.

I thought I might post the development of my alternator findings. The stabilizer was OK so the alternator seemed to be culprit. I replaced both bearings and all six diods, rebuilt the alternator and put it back in the engine. Light no longer lights and car runs better due to proper voltage.
