What REALLY Happened with the BMW E9

Was this created by ChatGPT? They skipped over the Type 120 2000CS in the e9 design process, they called the three stainless steel 2800 coupes the first e9 prototypes, the 2002 is called a coupe, d-jet was not tested in the 2800 sedan before the CSi, CSL had fiberglass wheel arch trim, 30,546 produced vs. actual 30,565, BMW was perceived as an elevated Volkswagen brand, the e9 was perceived as an elegant sedan because it resembled the e3 among others and the e9 was a financial failure. Production didn’t end due to failure of the e9, the e24 was already ready for its debut and production, time marches on.

Yeah honestly it does have the feel of an AI video. The obviously generated voice.. the recycled oldenzaal footage shown over and over, and the writing is poor.

And I think if it is viewed in isolation, the E9 may have been a financial failure. But you can’t underestimate the “halo effect” helping BMW build its reputation and sell 2002s and E12s. It turned heads on the street, was celebrated in magazines, was driven by celebrities, and earned lots of wins on the track. The impact of the E9 goes way beyond the sales numbers.

I did learn one thing from this video …

How have I never heard of the Audi 100 coupe? Sure, it’s no E9: fwd, I4, not as pretty. But not ugly either, and they sold an almost identical number? Yet I’ve never seen one before, and there has been exactly one C1 100 coupe ever sold on BAT?
