What model year did the dash change to having the "seat belt" sign on the top of the dash? Or am I thinking of a different model, ie: e3.
Trying to purchase a dash mat with out the sign hole.
Anyone out there with info on mats or experience with vendors.
thanks

My '72 E3 had a dash mounted seatbelt sign. This was definitely a US code thing. In the '72 E9 wiring chart there is no provision for the circuit. I have not checked the '73 and '74 charts.

I have been told by many "experts" that the seat belt sign was a '73 USA requirement. Of course my '72 has one.

HHmm--admitted scoflaws laws among us

Can't imagine anyone wanting to omit such important safety devices as the lovely eye catching "seat belt reminder" sitting on the dash top!!!

Actually the info I needed, was if anyone had any info on a vendor that sells dash mats for the non-seat belt sign dashes.
Mine is an early 2800 w/o the ugly sign.
My dash is in good shape, and I live in the desert. I put up window blocks whenever I park for ANY duration of time. Plus I have tinted windows for the rest of the car.
New leather, trying to keep it that way!

In my '75 e12 I re-purposed the seat belt light -- I hooked it up to a button switch on the accelerator linkage, and made a lens that said "Hold On!" It was set to come on at full throttle...

Classic! I'm gonna steal that idea if I ever end up with another one with the seat belt light. Too funny.
