What's with this grill?

That's not my car, FWIW. Just a convenient picture I found.

On the 2002's there were 2 different depths to the grills, I thought this might be the case with E9's as well.

Check out the car on the right and how the grill around the lights protrudes more. The "deep" 2002 grills are widely available while the shallow are rare...resulting in a number of those cars running around with oddly recessed headlights.

Euro parts ... as in 'dem there not meeting early DOT lamp standard
so changes had to me made...otherwise, they are from an e3 but don't
worry, as stranger things happen here every day...such is history!

PS just where is your radio antenna mounted?

One one of my cars, I had to mount 10mm shims to bring the grilles out to suit the lamps.
With the variation in body fitments/alignments on these cars, I just don´t wonder too much about it. On another one, I had to bend the mounts from the fenders to bring them back.....
Handbuilt beauties......
