I just ran across this listing. Anyone know about these things? They appear to be for creating a vortex around the disk brakes for cooling.

Must admit that I have never seen a BMW .. or a Porsche for that matter with these fans fitted.

On the back they look similar to the Turbine wheels that BMW used on the first series E34 M5. The principle is .. as you mention .. to suck warm air away from the discs .. not to blow cool air on the discs as one might think

I have a set of period BBS alloy wheels that came with the bucket, but they are just "ordinary" alloys with the trademark BBS lattice. These look like they may bolt onto a particular style of BBS wheel, but what style I haven't a clue!

BBS made center lock race wheels and I am pretty sure some of the race CSLs used them. These wheels are three-piece held on the hub by a single large nut.

I have a lot of pictures of the IMSA CSL that BMWNA owns and it has these wheels, but does not appear to have the fans installed.
