Folks,
Is anyone here familiar with the wheel offset requirement for our coupes?

I notice that most of the 16" Alpinas for sale seem to be 7" ET11 for the front and 8" ET24 for the rear.

How critical is this? For example would a set of 8" rims with an offset of ET20 fit the car, and/or can spacers be used to correct the offset?

Cheers
Jon

Jon-

ET20 wheels will sit 4mm more outboard than ET24. Is this enough to cause rubbing? I suppose, but it seems you need to be prepared to roll the fender lips on most wider wheel and tire combinations so I don't think 4mm will kill you. Also keep in mind every tire is different, so a 225/50 from one manufacturer can be measurably wider than another 225/50.

In this case spacers cannot correct the offset difference because spacers can only work in one direction. If you had something like ET44, then a 20mm spacer would get you to ET24. Once the offset is less than what you need than you can't use a spacer.

Here's a diagram showing how offset is measured.
