Where do I go to get the details of my car from the VIN?

Are there any websites where I can find out all the details on my car (build date, delivery, colour).
I had heard you can only find out by emailing Mobile tradition in Germany.

My car has been changed to silver and I just want to check that it was originally Taliga Green.
