Hello

Where would someone get a new E9 windshield and how much do they go for? I might need one... Is there a difference in model years and versions? If so it would be for a 71 CSi Euro variant. I would like to source the exterior trim for the windshield as well.

Thanks

Max

Max,

The windshield and the locking strips are still available through the dealer.

Retail windshield price is around $450-$500 depending on which dealer you get it from. The anodized aluminum lock strips are about $75 per side.

Bronze with green tint stripe on top of windshields and completely clear windshields are available. Believe most coupes were fitted with the former version. Bought the bronze with green tint windshield about 4 years ago from BMW for about the same price. installation is about $200. Definitely would recommend the dealer route as you do not have to deal with the pricey shipping cost and the danger of having the glass crack during shipping.

Hi Bert

Thanks for the info. I was not aware they were still available. If needed I'll go the dealer route.

He had several a while back.

As previously discussed, these are non oem windshields made in China, so there could be potential fitment problems. The current ones (my current one) sold by BMW are imprinted with DuroGlass/Sigla. DuroGlass was the original glass manufacturer for most if not all of the CS coupes.

That's true - but I've been satisfied with non OEM glass in my 2002 and Mustang. And to top it off - and if it doesn't fit - ask for a refund. If that doesn't work - put in in dispute with your Credit Card and let them hash it out (provided you fit the part right away to know)
