Where is the earliest Factory built RHD 3.0CSi

Mine is a May 72 RHD CSI vin 2262, the bulkhead cut outs look like they are factory pressed to me.
The shape is the same on both sides although the RHD flanges are not as pronounced. I can't see that Dover would have gone to that much trouble. RHD 1.jpgRHD 4.jpgRHD 2.jpgRHD 3.jpg

That does look like it was a production line form alright and not one that was done afterwards by hand in Dover.
It would be great to see one that was actually done in Dover , just as a comparison.
Someone somewhere must have one but perhaps they might not even know that they have a converted car on their hands.
:)

Came across these photos believed Dover conversion. You can see where the cut out for the steering column had been when it was lhd and now welded back up using the metal section taken from the RHS to complete RHD conversion. Also believe that Dover cars had the brake fluid bottle bracket bolted to the inner wing and not welded.

Okay
That’s quite a good way of doing it I’d say to give back a bit of rigidity to the dash and bulkhead.
Are they pics from your own car ?
I am just wondering what the vin number for that red car is.
Thanks for sharing the pics !

Hi guys
I am trying to find out if my car is unique.
I have a factory built Right hand drive
3.0 csi built on September 4th 1974

it is not a converted LHD as was previously suggested. BMW archive have confirmed this themselves.

the Vin number is 2265998

so is it one of the 66 3.0 csi’s built in 1973 and should that now be updated to say
67 ?

is it one of the first ???

I did touch on this question at the start of this year and I did get a lot of help with information, so thanks again to everyone who helped then !!!

I suppose, I am wondering if anyone has actually a bit of insider info from Karmann from 47 years ago ?
Did anyone work there ? Or live in the same town and know someone who knows someone or something
Any bit of extra info to solve the puzzle would be great !!!

Just read this post. I checked my factory RHD and its vin number 2264052 with a build date of 01-05-1973. It also has a factory electric sunroof
