I just got a new battery ground cable from Carl at LaJolla. This one is one of the double cable with s small braided wire going from the battery - to the fender and a longer brown one going presumably to the block.

But I imagine this means first removing the existing engine to ground wire so as to not create a ground loop. But I cannot see that one anywhere. My current battery cable is a single braided going to the fender and I don't see a cable going from the oil filter or under the carbs or anywhere... It obviously has to be there somewhere otherwise nothing would work...

Any other place I should look?

Thank you.

I did the back of the block to the firewall one back when I was chasing grounds. That one was a pain to do since I don't have small hands.

I wouldn't worry about ground loops in the power system. If you are running low level signals through shielded wires it may be a different story.

Great Caesar's Ghost! What is a ground loop- This is why I have a mental block when it comes to electrical systems- I can't see anything moving... Just a lot of smoke and mirrors... mostly smoke.

if it fits i would run the wire to the alternator case. ground loops not an issue. make sure your firewall to bellhousing ground strap is intact also.

Aha! Yes, my electrical experience is mostly with audio systems where ground loops are an important issue. I did not know that it wasn't the case in all circuits.

I will indeed attach it as you guys suggest.

Thank you for the great replies.
