Last night I was with the wife in the GREAT PUMPKIN and realized that everything on this car works except for the heat... I have not started looking in the cars or manuals but was wondering where the heater control valve is...

There is no water valve, the cable just moves the flaps in the console to allow air to flow over the heater core which always hot.

I've seen a few fixes for this on the board over the years. Is there one that stands out as "the way to go" when adding a valve? I know if the flaps are working good you don't have to worry about it, but I like the idea of a value too....especially on hot summer days!

That's a great write-up on a slick solution. Sadly, it wont work on a '74 with its unique plumbing. Just not enough room for the valve.
