Does anyone run Interstate batteries and which model number is it? Apparently none of the parts stores locally or Interstate batteries has my car listed. My existing battery I had in a different car that I sold so I dont have it for reference. Thank you.

interstate batt

my old interstate battery was mod# MT-47. i replaced with optima, and although more expensive, much better battery.

Was the fit ok? Pep boys said I probably need a size 26 battery and this is a size 47 which is a bit longer.

no prob

fit was fine -see pic

I am running a Bosch from Pepboys. It looks more like the original Varta and a perfect fit.
Pretty good reviews.

Probably made in China but the name is German.

Battery

I have good luck with Optima style battery....much more so than any of the lead-acid batteries I have purchased for different vehicles in my fleet over the last ten years....worth the extra $$$. For the hold down I use a plastic block that is genuine GM spec'ed for the 1991 Chevy 1/2 ton pickup truck....fits my tray and battery combo scary good....less than $10 from the dealer as I recall

Don't rely on what the stores say about which batteries fit. Advance Auto Parts shows the incorrect size on their website for my wife's 89 Saab (AMHIK.) As for a coupe, I would take the old battery to the store and make them match it up....
BTW, the battery manufacturers seem to be getting away from saying how long the batteries will last. No more 60 months or 72 months or whatever...now it's all 1 year or 2 year full replacement warranty and after that you're own your own. What's up with that?

the prorated warranty thing never worked that well to begin with. if a battery fails, most time it fails early in its life (my experience). and if you live in a really hot environment, batteries don't seem to last as long.

All battery manufacturers are in cahoots. They drop a poison pill in the battery designed to degrade and kill the battery precisely one month after the warranty is up. A conspiracy I tell you....I am not paranoid because I know they are out to get me!
On a serious note, I run small trickle chargers on just about everything anymore, especially the cars I have with security systems. This saves me quite a bit of grief.

Why not go w an AGM type that will never corrode your tray, and is lighter and more

Durable? Plus they're many pounds lighter. I lost a few CCA but don't drive most of my old cars in temps much below 20F.

I've used both Odyssey and Braille with out problems.

Which Bosch model are you running? That is what I had in my car before I gave it away with the car I sold. I also had bought it from Pep Boys.

I wish I could tell you what Bosch model. It was a while back. Took the deadone to Pepboys and matched. Took some of the labels off to make it look more like a battery and not a caution page from the EPA. Bought two different battery holddowns and fabricated a single strong, holddown.

But I will take a look anyway to see if there is some id.

+1 I peeled all the labels off my Optima and stuck a Bosch sticker on it just for kicks.

Odyessy batteries

for those of you who don't need 100% original appearance and / or have relocated your battery to the trunk, the Odyessy gel cell batteries are a great alternative - half the weight of a regular battery and will not leak.

I've been using them for 5 years and never had a problem.

Unless you're a stickler for some sort of originality, many batteries will fit.

What one really needs to pay attention to is (a) for those who drive in really cold weather, what the CCA (Cold Cranking Amps) rating is, or (b) for those who drive in warm weather, what the RCA (Reserve Cranking Amps) rating is. Look 'em up and learn the difference, then what you buy will be known to you.

I get any d*mn thing that fits, and if I sell one of my cars, the newer of the two stays with the coupe. Lately I haven't sold a car, but I don't drive often either.

To those who like and recommend a particular size or type, I say: post the RCA and CCA ratings, thank you.
