Which M30 is this?

Hey guys,

It's a bit of a story, but I've been offered an '82 euro 735 for cheap. I'm trying to figure out if dragging this thing home is even worth the trouble; the seller says it's a grey-market car and that it runs. Hmmm...

The seller says the motor has never been touched, so assuming the motor hasn't been swapped, which 3.5 engine should be in this car?

Any I.D. help is much appreciated.

Look on the intake side for a large "L" painted on the block. That would be the higher compression "dirty" Euro engine. The other thing you can do is run the VIN through RealOEM.com and see what engine it brings up.

Given the US M30B35 of later cars like the e34 is as strong or stronger than any of the earlier Euro engines, and are coming way down in price as the e32 and e34 cars reach the end of their service life, I wouldn't pay too much.
