will E3 window switches fit in E9 console switch holes?

I know the E3 has 5 pins on the switch.
Can the E3 switches work in the E9. with a change in wire config. Hole size ?

Many of us have gutted E3's and the switches are much more stout. And I have several more than I need.

I would doubt I am the first to wonder about this and have never seen a post on it that I can remember.

If your coupe has early motors you can use e3 door switches just not driver door unless you can swap bezels. Did e3 ever switch to later motors and switches?
