Got around to checking my "new" window motor from an E28 via EBay.
Initially, motor wouldn't spin when connected directly to battery on the bench. Hitting it with a magic hammer got the motor spinning.
I connected it to my coupes window regulator, and bench tested it... it jumped but did not spin.
Opened window gear box up, cleaned out old grease, spun it a bunch of times on the bench while adding white lithium grease. Motor spins fine directly connected to battery on the bench. Great.
Re-connected it to the coupes window regulator....and of course it jumped a bit but does not spin.
It seems like it has the power to "free wheel" but not drive the window regulator.
Do the motors eventually just get tired and wear out (Like me right now...)?
Is this motor dying and NOT something that should be installed?
Any tips would be appreciated.
Thanks
