window motors

Have a 2000 c that has electric window motors and they are shot, i heard that a 5 seriers from 80 to 88 would work does anyone know if this is right
 
If you can't turn the motor shaft easily, use penetrating oil (something better than WD40, like PB BLaster) on the bearings. Then try cleaning and fresh grease on the regulators. I have yet to find one of these early style motors I could not revive. Even if you do the E28 conversion, you'll still want to clean & grease the regulators.
