I have wanted to ask if anyone has had success removing scratches from the inside of a window? Short of taking the window out and using sanding devices, I have used Griot's window scratch remover, helpful but still there. Someone suggested wax but no improvement. I believe these are narrow and deep probably from the window lift mechanism which might need some tightening and R & R.

Brand new glass is cheap- I wouldn't waste my time I think?

70 bucks for rear, 120 front.

window scratches

Thank for your info, replacing the windows is a good option. I am out of the loop on vendors as my restoration was completed 23 years ago. Which vendor is it you your quoting? (BMW?)

Yes, but as Don and I just discussed, it might be removable with a blade or solvent. It's just not as subtle as the original.

Shipping on something as heavy as a window from W&N will be steep. Seems like a good used one from a wreck might be a better option.

driver's side front. I agree on the shipping $. I learned during the restoration that chrome and glass are bears to ship and receive without damage.

I also am thinking about replacing the glass in the door and the trouble and expense that will be. I have lived with the scratches for a long time...........

when i get home tonight let me check the condition of the one that i have ... or at least the one i think i have.

Amy,

I have one ... but i'm not positive that its any better than what you have. there aren't any big scratches, but there are several small scratches. i don't think i would spend the money to take your door apart to put it in unless yours was broken.

sorry

check the parts section here. A guy in Seattle is selling door glass. He says it's in really good shape.

the window i have is very good Markos ... the point of the matter is the extremely high quality of Amy's coupe. if i owned a coupe of that quality i would either leave the original until i found a perfect one ... or buy a new one ... but as Chris said, there's the logo issue.

I can't thank you enough for checking it! I appreciate the nice compliment as well...............

Yes removing it and reinstalling another would be a cost factor. Also lining it up to seal and to open correctly a lot to consider. I showed it this weekend with the windows down, usually do that, it just looks so much better that way plus I certainly don't mind having folks see the interior as BMW surely did make a beauty. There was a Bavaria, 320i Bauer, 323 Alpina it was thrilling to see them. Also another very nice CS. Highlands Motoring Festival was the name of the event, mixed marque.

The drive there was super great due to the new plug wires and all of the cylinders getting spark. One of the wires was completely severed at the distributor, discovered when we fiddled with all of the wires. So it was a celebration.

Amy,

if any of us from Atlanta come up your way, or you are near Atlanta, i will gladly show you the one i have and see if you think it is worth the trouble.

Scott

That would be very nice. We are in Morganton, NC area about 40 east of Asheville. We have been t raveling to Atlanta little lately now that we have moved.
Where are you exactly?

window, DS

I'll try to clean up the one on the parts car and see what it looks like...maybe work something out if its up to snuff...
