Has anyone tried the installation of "auto-down / auto-up" switches in a coupe? Are aftermarket switches available? Or am I totally off in thinking the switch accomplishes this rather than a modern day intelligent motor?

I do not know if auto switches are sensor based vs. current based, if current based it would be possible to adapt or design one that fits in or next to the switch. Personally I think that any system intended to delegate effort or thought away from the operator is against the spirit of the coupe :).

Having said that, if I design one how many do you guys want?

That is one out-of-period mod I have often considered. I thought Mesa Performance used to offer a kit, although I dont know if it would work on an e9.

Quick up and down window oeration--

and my gut question is why?

IF such non-driver involved aids are necessary--get a newer BMW.

For serious serious Coupe owners--let's simply resolve to accept the Coupes advanced design for its time that is included--with its "fun to drive" spirit of driver involvement offered by vintage Coupe ownership--even with some of its pimples and idiosyncracies.

To this long of tooth and term owner/driver of Coupes--for 500,000+ miles--that's the real essence of owning and driving one of these cars.

auto switches

I appreciate authenticity. Those with 16 inch rims should not cast stones. :)

Sometimes I get in tight situations where window operation and shifting collide. it would be nice to press and forget about it.

BTW - i did pick up a 2012 750 il about three months ago. my first new car in 14 years. it took about 1500 miles to get used to it. I think most lovers of the E9 would similarly enjoy this sedan. incredibly nimble for its size.

More press and forget--

and in such nice weather whats wrong with leaving the windows open?

BLUMAX for one certainly enjoys open air motoring!!
