hi,

sorry been off the forum recently but i have a question....

we are welding the shells i have at the moment and part of the work is deleting sunroofs and general roof pulling/straightening etc but we have noticed some considerable differences in the windscreen openings (correct term!!??) front and rear between the shells there is a 10- 12mm difference at the most extreme (1/2"ish) is there a correct set of dimensions? did they change windscreen size at any point during production?

what should we do?

one idea was to chop the roof high on the pillars and fit the windscreens and then try to get the roof back on, so use the screens to line it all up, but i am worried they will crack or something will go wrong....

i am off to work now so will get the screens out and measure up but any help/ideas/experiences would be great...

thanks paul

No change that I am aware of. There is zero tolerance for dimensions being off here. The front glass is a bugger to fit in the best of circumstances. Also needs to be aligned dead center.

You could cut short lengths 6-8 cm of old window gasket and use them to fit the glass in the openings of each car to see which fit better. Maybe two along the bottom, one on each side and two along the top. The relationship of the glass edge to the opening flanges should be the same all the way around. This might tell you where you are off.

thanks sven, yes took your advice and had a door rubber not in very good condition and like you said chopped it and got the screen in after adjusting the dimensions roof was caved in so once it was pulled out a bit better made a big difference but ill put the door windows in as-well i think tomorrow just to be sure... thanks again
