Does anyone know what the difference is in the 2 fluid bottles listed by mobile tradition. One is $86 and the other is $130 with a later (1971) date.

I ordered the less expensive one last week. Should be arriving in a few hours. I can take a photo of the new and old one and post it.

Here is the comparison of the new bottle to the old. The only difference is that the top is a bit flatter, so the overall height a bit less.

p/n: 61 66 1 350 871

No cap. I am going to have to figure out how to use the old yellowed one. Maybe I'll paint it blue (like most newer cars).

Looking at the orange/blue binder parts books they describe 871 as being used up to the 3.0 models (2500 and 2800) and being 2.5 liters in capacity and the 190 as being used in the 3.0 models and being 3 liters in capacity. My book is dated 7/73. What other differences there might be, one would have to look at the two bottle side by side.

To further add the the washer bottle thread, PN 61671356191 is the container used for the Euro models with headlight wiper/washers and it's even cheaper than the other two at $64.29 list. It does come out of Germany however. This one is 2.7 liters in capacity and has two water outlets on the bottom to feed the NLA double washer pump.

Yellowed Washer Bottle

I looked on the internet and see that soaking plastic in 3% hydrogen peroxide and letting it sit for a day or so removes stains. Has anyone tried this with the washer bottle? If so, did it do any good?

i bought a new cap from Penske last year. it was the same milky white color as my container.

I don't know that I'd use peroxide on the plastic (embrittlement)

BUT

I have had good success cleaning things like the white plastic discs and "longnuts" used behind the dash and on tailites by using a laundry product called Oxyclean (ask the wife if you don't know the product)

This is what you guys are talking about:

http://retr0bright.wikispaces.com/ Note you need the super strong "beauty supply" hydrogen peroxide/.

I tried it with a plastic brake fluid reservoir from my 66 1800 and didn't do anything. I'm not ready to say it doesn't work since I didn't have too much UV radiation (sun energy) when I tried it, but the plastics they are successfully whitening are different than that found on the plastic reservoirs.
