Windshield seals... same exact part from Maximillian as from the dealer?

I spoke with the glass guy Don uses (thanks for the contact info, Don), and after describing how my front and rear glass seals don't seem to fit quite right at the corners (they fold in at a couple of the corners), he suggested that this is a symptom of having aftermarket seals.

I purchased my seals from Maximillian and the packaging indicates they are BMW parts made in Germany. I don't see how these could be aftermarket parts, but I am having trouble with fitment.

What have others experienced with this? Are the "correct" seals thicker at the corners... and maybe I have the seals incorrectly oriented? I plan on making the drive to Oakland to have the glass done by Don's guy, but I don't want to make the trip until I'm sure these seals will work correctly. Thanks for any help.

Interesting. This post from that thread sounds like what I am encountering:

"The new seals from BMW are junk! I used a new from BMW rubber seal on the original windshield and it was too small in the corners... The glass cracked 4 days after being installed and the new Chinese Glass with the new BMW rubber actually fits a little bit better... The rubber is still not covering the bottom corners like original..."

It sounds like this person is talking about the front windshield, so I don't see how a part number mixup could apply here as well. Could it be that many/most of the new seals from BMW just aren't made correctly?

BTW... I just double checked the packaging for the rear window seal I received, and it is the correct number (740154).

I just install BMW seals in mine with factory glass and they fit perfect.
