The other day I noticed what looked like a arc shaped scratch on my windshield. Upon further inspection I realized that it was because the wiper blade rubber was old and softer allowing the edges of the wiper frame to touch the glass. And frustratingly, there is a metal tab at each end, presumably to keep the blade from falling off, that is ready to carve into the glass at first opportunity.
This seems like a really poor design so I wonder if I have the correct wiper frame. See photo below.
Anyone else run into that problem?

This should help in determining where the problem is

How unfortunate! Looks like the wrong wiper was used. Also, the wiper insert appears to be too short and the metal blade was folded down to keep rubber in place.

Grrrrrrr.... Based on your replies it appears that the previous owner put on some non original replacements with that dangerous tab at the end.

Ok, does anyone have a set of of correct wiper arms I can buy? Even black is ok.

Thank you

Bo, looks like you may have e3 wiper arms or even 2002 with a straight tip. Your blade holder is very close to the spoiler on driver wiper. It should have a hook on the end. I think you have 2002 arms.

DRATS THE ONLY THING YOU CAN TRY IS GET MCQUIRES 104 HEAVY CUT AND
A DEWALT BUFFER WITH A WOOL PAD AND IT WILL REMOVE ALL THE JUNK AND SMALL SCRATCHES
WITH A GOOD BUFFING

Bo,
You can get the correct ones from Christoph.... these are repros but identical to the originals which generally cost more.
