Ihad my 1970 2800cs painted and now cant get windshields back in. Got new seals for bmwclassicparts.com but the the chrome will not stay in groove of the seal so stuck. Anybody had this problem and know of anyone to help? #Windshieldless in Birmingham, Alabama Thanks, Jim

Did you insert the trim into the seal before trying to install it// I had this problem on an Etype years ago and the learned about installing the trim first. Same way worked fine on my e24

Remove those serrated strips along A pillar and roof if still on. Install rubber on glass, install trim next, place on car. Where did you buy the glass? Is the seal genuine BMW?

below is a link to some of the windshield installation challenges that I and others have had.

My installation problems were as a result of glass that was too big from W&N. It was trimmed and fit, but cracked on the final nudge of the installation. Second windshield and new gasket fit fairly well.

The first windshield would not go in with the molding at all...
