Wow guys you got me all choked up.
Thanks and especially thanks to Lonny and Lou Ann (bimmerlon)for encouraging me to try for the Parker Spooner Award. Lonny won it in 2012.
I was so busy getting my motor finished and running safely that an award was the furthest thing from my mind.
Also thanks to Steve Armstrong (stevehose)and George Whitely for moral support and text help along the way. I owe you guys.
When I get settled and get a chance to organize my pictures I will post my trip with some funny stories about coupe problems and incites. Got home last night.
I drove a total of 4009 miles. Went to Ofest via Colorado Springs and cousins there then the back way over two 12000ft passes to Ofest in Beaver Creek CO. Did the rally, did the autocross, visited cousins in Western Colorado and Northern Colorado drove over Berthoud pass on highway 40 back to Denver then home via I-70, 24,75. Whew!
For now you can visit the BMWCCA site where I posted Instagram photos on my way out and a few of my travels in CO. I have more to post. My wife was with me so not doing this while driving although I did take the photos. Oops! Remember Kansas is pretty straight and darn boring.
Here's the link.

I posted this yesterday on Facebook. See what you think? Yes I know the correct answer to the Corvair statement.
You know what's weird? I get my share of waves, thumbs ups and a few honks in my 1972 3.0 CS but for the most part go along unnoticed. My plate even says 72. I think the car is still so contemporary that people just accept it like say a Corvette or Jag? Just saying?
Now here's another take from a guy that came up to me on top of a mountain in CO and told me that BMW borrowed lines from the Corvair for the 3.0 CS Coupe.
