For the final phase of my engine bay clean up I need to put back the wiper motor. As you can see from the picture my gasket is in bad shape. Anyone know where I can get a new one, or make one? Also any advice on cleaning up the metal plate. I buffed it but could look better

Thanks

Mike

In the end it's all about those little details!
I cut my own gasket out of rubber, it's a pretty simple shape.
I painted the metal ring to match the motor.

Perhaps you already figured this out but don't put the wiper arms on until your sure rotation looks good. I've heard horror stories of breakage when wipers try to wipe the valve cover. ;)

Thank you for advice. Would love to see a picture of yours and also where did you get the rubber to cut the gasket?

I have ordered a rubber strip from Amazon: 100mm x 500mm x 1mm
and cut it per the shape of the metal plate

I see you are already informed on the rubber gasket; I did the same. I graduated from kindergarten, so i mastered the skill of scissors long time ago. Besides the Amazon link and a few dollars, it's all you need to re-make the gasket.

For the metal plate painting is a good option. Should you want to go professional, these were originally bright zinc plated. Google for shops near you.
Often when you have small parts (bucket of nuts and bolts) they work by a batch principle as they chuck it into a tumbling machine that processes it per batch.
Whenever you have lager parts they hang them on racks, dipping into various baths. Then you pay per item, usually based on the amount of surface area.
The cleaner the steel, the better the outcome wrt corrosion resistance and uniform looks.

Most important there are the white washers, and they are many, carefully look after them
Plate is steel, if you don’t protect it wait for the worse
Rubber is a kindergarten thing
Try to cut a 2mm smaller diameter than the plate, you will avoid seeing imperfections

I had the plate satin chrome plated. The bolts were replaced with yellow zinc; the center is a stainless cap nut. I like details, but when your car is painted Turkis, nobody even looks at stuff like this.....:)

Love the last pic @Drew Gregg !

Not only very, very clean and looking great by the colour contrast to your lovely paint, but also sporting 10.9 strength class bolts in case you need to wipe a cow of your windshield, and a nice pattern on the metal disc giving a very well manicure look to it.
