My wiper motor was working fine a while back. I tried it today to move the motor around a little and it will not go on when the switch is in the fully down (intermittent) or first pull up position. It will work in the 2nd pull up position (high speed) but stops when I turn the switch off and doesn't return to the bottom posiiton - it stops where you turn it off. Is this a relay, the contacts in the motor, or the switch? Which one is the relay? I cleaned the inner motor contacts a while back but????

Update

The parking feature works, if I have it on high and press the stalk switch off it will park. Stalk switch seems fine. Nothing on intermittent or low speed setting. I can't figure out by the diagram which switch contacts are power in, ground, and the speeds to test. Before killing my evening, do these symptoms sound like switch, motor, or relay? Or could be either? Thanks.

Jump the switch.

Clean the parking contacts.

Relay is near hood handle

Push the stalk in and pull out- maybe stuck.

Here's a good thread: http://www.e9coupe.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6853&highlight=wiper+motor

disassembled the motor, cleaned the 3 copper brushes, bent some other stuff in there, reassembled, and it works.

What is the technical definition of ," bent some stuff". for us anal engineer types?

Well i cleaned, sanded and bent out the the 3 copper brushes, messed with the other 2 that don't seem to do anything, and cleaned the connector spades and what ever else I could find. What it really means is I didn't know what I was doing and fortunately got it to work.
