Kudos to Luis for pointing me to the correct part number for the wiper post grommets:

"it is also the ring that sits in the battery cable holder bracket that is supported by the PS reservoir. PN is 61611353754"

i have never disassembled that area, but i am considering regreasing it conviniently

DQ, I'm fairly confident it's the same. Most E2X and E12 models of that era list the same nut and other components on the wiper shafts. The online fiches don't call out the part number for the E3 or the E9 but many others do, such as the E28 (link below, #17. E3 is 18x28x6). The E3 orange parts books do call out the part number. Somehow it was dropped when transferring to electronic fiche.
