Hello everybody!
A friend in the US is having trouble with the windshield wipers on his BMW E9- when the ignition is turned on, the wipers run continuously- there is no way to turn them off.
Have any of you had this problem? We would appreciate any hints.
Best regards!
Wiola

This is what I suggested to him, but he unplugged this harness and the wipers continue to work. He replaced the relay with another working one - no change.
Let's check the motor, unless you have any ideas? ;)

I had wipers that would come on randomly and wouldn't turn off. I unplugged the ground wire on the motor to solve part of the problem, as they were now off. Being creative and cheap, I installed a switch in series with the ground wire to keep them off until I need them. I have since acquired a new motor and one of these months I'll install it.

Wow, that is 20% creative and 80% cheap.

Motor has an internal switch which is used to stop to the motor (arm) in the initial condition.

This stop will work independently from the switch and relay. Only will off once the ignition will be off, so the problem can be at motor or the harness coming to the motor (short circuit).

Here is the diagram which will help to check the wire colors:

42 wiper stalk switch
53 wiper interval relay
24 connector

Internal switches can also stick ... it happens.

Proszę pochwalić się jak uda się znaleźć problem. Może czegoś się wszyscy nauczymy. :)

Pozdrowienia z Małopolski!
