I have attempted to decipher the wiring diagram. No luck. I swear these wires are Green and Grey. (maybe green and white)
Any idea?
Can't find identical wires in the engine compartment. Help!
There are three wires in one connector and they come off of fuse 6.
As the picture shows 2 of the 3 wires are melted.
Thanks in advance for the help.

my memory tells me there is a feed to the instrument cluster that is green / white. so i looked it up + this is what i find - from the wiring diagram. i'm looking at a 2800cs diagram. the 3.0cs is slightly different

green / white wires go from fuse block (fuse 7) to 12 - horn relay, 23 - automatic chokes, 31 - transmission switch (automatic i think), 41 - gauge cluster , 65 - hazard warning flasher switch , 68 - stop light switch.

this is what i find on the 3.0cs (also starts at fuse 7)
goes to the automatic choke (2 - both carbs) and the gauge cluster for sure. also runs between the hazard switch and the stop light switch - there is a green / gray wire that runs between the hazard switch and the flasher unit.

hope this helps

Yes, I was thinking that possibly the connections are not correct.
Maybe these connectors were switched around mistakenly by the previous owner. Hmmmm....

Automatic choke wire

The automatic choke works from the bi-metal piece heating up and opening the choke. Correct?
Why does the choke require power?
I am going to trace the wiring today, I hope.
I may have to directly wire these items.

cos the automatic choke has a solenoid too
this solenoid helps the coolant heating action (otherwise it will be too slow) onto the bimetal spring and thus opening the butterfly
