What do you all recommend for cleaning and preventing the wood from drying out (other than avoiding the sun) - furniture polish, 303, Pristine Clean, et al???

Wellllll... that depends on your finish.

Don't use a cleaner.

Don't use Pledge- it doesn't contain wax, but oils and solvents.

A good cleaner free wax for the shiney finish top coat with a micro towel.

Watch the edges- a little laquer ( I use wiping laquer) to keep them sealed.

I redid my dash and went for the slight wood grain look. A good furniture oil is what I use.

Mine has a small piece of vinyl at the very ends. I assume that's factory to keep the edges covered. Sure looks the same grain, etc. as the rest of the cabin.

Mine is the factory satin finish. Any particular brands of wax you suggest - I am not knowledable in woodwork, but I have never Pledged it. I don't want to use the Armor All of the wood preservative world. Wiping the ends with laquer to seal is a good idea.

Any good pure carnuba wax, lightly applied and buffed, since that's the tried and true product for more years than I can count on fingers and toes. It's what Mercedes recommends from what I remember. I wouldn't recommend the new synthetic waxes out there now on the wood.

Wood needs water, or so we learn in the AZ desert. Wipe it now and then with a damp cloth and then wax. it will stop the wood from drying out and/or cracking.
