I am looking to replace the wooden interior parts in my E9 as some are no longer in good shape. Were there different types of wooden interiors? Most ones I see for sale on the net look darker than mine...

Wood advice

The original was french walnut. Over time and exposure they do lighten up, but originally a darker brown.

Many redo thier own, reglueing, repair, replace, and relaminate with new veneer. There are vendors who do this work from yours or replacement.

Along the way several owners have personalized the wood with more exotic species such as zebra wood, burled walnut, etc. as the possiblities are nearly endless.

From time to time, members offer spares they've done. And there are several articles online explaining the process.

Best of luck.....

Stock was "French" or "European" walnut. Anything else is either a re-veneer or completely new fabrication. Some of the re-veneering work done by board members has been very, very nice.

Ligher in the early cars

I would say that the earlier cars, 2800 and 3.0 up to 72 were lighter than the later cars, esp 74-75. Just my own, personal observation.

Peder, you´re right, the earlier cars had lighter and the late cars darker wood.

The veneer is called "Deutsche Nuss", there are new "Holzleisten" on Ebay..........
