"My new CS...finally...photos"

Chris and Carl were very nice to me and helped me with a couple of things that needed sorting. I drove it without problem from SLC, UT to San Diego and then to Newport Beach. On the way home the air conditioning belt came off and derailed the alternator/water pump belt. I pulled off immediately and had it towed from outside of LV all the way to SLC on a flat bed. I couldn't leave it anywhere and I needed to be home that next morning. It was almost as expensive as the work done at LJI.

A few corrections though, I found this car through the CS registry's classifieds. A Mechanic in Bakersfield bought the car, serviced it himself (European, BMW shop), and loved it. The family is sure the mileage was original. Anyway, he died too young and willed it to his only daughter (divorced) and the car was kept in a big cargo container (pic on other thread). I haven't done much to the car, but the exhaust was replaced (OEM) and Carl's spring and shock recommendations installed. I tried alpina's but got some rubbing and didn't want to risk possible damage and i like the original look anyway. The carb's were rebuilt, thanks to a contact for rebuild kits by Murray. I'm tempted to replace the york compressor with a Sanden, since A/C was an add on anyway.

Some of you might notice the upgraded fan and clutch assembly which i did on the recommendation of Carl (kept the original) and the newer points/wiring harness also on their recommendation (mine was old and brittle as you can imagine) and kept the original. Also I replaced the original under hood insulation this past winter...that was a pain.

It's been washed and vac'd and I did some chrome detailing but never a full detail or even wax yet. i've put on about 1800 miles.

CCR,

I remember when you took delivery of your coupe. It is truly an amazing car in incredible condition. My 38K mile coupe is as close to original as you can get, but your car is there! Keep it that way!

Enjoy.

shit.

I'm like Carl, I love ceylon.

I remember hearing about this car, cynic I am didn't check it out when it was available.

If Cary's Alpina is what the market wants, THIS car is what the market should respect. Everything else is just another Barrett Jackson scrape and spray.

I love the color also. There was a perfect Ceylon CSi for sale in my area a couple of years ago; its now in Europe...

Detailed CS

I finally found time to detail my CS. It was carefully washed, clayed, buffed and waxed. The interior really needed nothing but the leather was treated with a good conditioner. The engine and trunk were detailed. Just thought I'd share some photos. It now has 24K miles or so. In September I'm taking it on a classic car only rally, the Red Rock Rallye through southern Utah. Many classics from the east coast and even a few from Europe are coming, or so I hear. 300 sl, ferrari, astons, jags. It should be cool. Also taking my '68 911 S SWB soft window targa. It should be a blast.
A couple of pics...from my phone.

Nice car!

I didn't start this thread and I think it was posed as a question in response to the blog post by La Jolla Ind and I doubt it is the world's nicest original e9. Yours looks great. Post more pics and some of the interior if you would.

nicest original E-9

I suspect that honor would go to Don Crevier--Crevier BMW in Santa Ana CA--with an original 1974 and only 4,300 miles or around 6,900 km--it is as new!

They sold the E-9 to a lady in Laguna Beach where it was rarely driven, always garaged and at an advanced it age when she could no longer drive Crevier bought it back from her--it was slightly damaged along one side that required repair and re-paint of that area.

It is an unusual metallic color that to me looks pink in certain light but is kind of rose looking in other light--need help with the color as believe that color was only available the last year of US models. It is definitely a lady color.

Chuck--I think your 3.0 CSi is definitely one of the finest originals in this country--enjoy your outing with all of the Jaguars.

My only claim as to a fine condition E-9 is--that the BLUMAX is believed to be the highest mileage surviving E-9 on planet Earth--at 415,00 miles is un-restored--interior wood, vinyl, chrome bits, headliner and carpet are all original--exterior trim and chrome are also original except front bumper has been re-chromed--all in fine condition throughout--drive line, suspension and other mechanical features are updated to a step beyond a stock 3.0 CS.

BLUMAX will travel to Monterey in two weeks to attend the events--participate in the concours and attend Festorics--this will be BLUMAX's 36th anniversary of his first trip to attend events in 1974--unique I suspect of other attendees.
