Would you consider these wheels on a Coupe?

I've seen versions of the 70's BBS Basket weave (with the weave in gold'ish) on a coupe (Tiaga) that may be suitable...but not for me. In fact the edges of the weave in your pic' is very sharp (squared) not like the Original BBS which are rounded edges not sharp...I have the Alloy '72 BBS basket weave and the Originals...

To me the coupe has chrome and the "gold'ish" seems contrary to the styling...only my humble opinion.

Go for it!

Real nice rims.

Cross spoke wheels are by far the most stylish on a E9.

Wheels

Keep clean? Hadn't thought of that...would you assume I actually drive the car? I have moved her into the ball room and only admire as art...let the servants do the dusting and polish...

Gold mesh wheels look good on green cars and also look very nice on sienna. I like pamps' combo because of the highly polished rims but the enkei's have a very flat center. When I had gold mesh on my malaga coupe I thought they looked good but my coupe friends thought otherwise. I like my Alpinas much better though. In the end get what you like.

OK

I would have to agree, original, that would be if I had one. "Seina" is too far from that and not "original" in any respect. The "gold" only works for me on two colours "Seina " and
the "Chamoix" if that is indeed the colour used on the race cars in conjunction to the M style stripe-age.

Where is the DeQ photograph tutorial for this? I am considering doing the same. How did you repair the road rash? Sorry to hijack the thread.

sorry to say, not for me
i can not help, i am maintaining her as close to original as possible, i´ve just repair and repaint the original wheels
i´m happy

the answer is: portugal !
i gave them to a repair shop in portugal, repair and repaint for 50 euro each + rubber reassembly and equilibrate (do not know if this is the proper word) 15 euro each = total 75 eur each, see result:

Outstanding! Worth every Euro.

Wow.

Those are transformed. They look great.

It looks like you switched to a metal valve stem, dQ. Is it still a Schrader valve or a different style altogether?

Pamp, I like yours better, I think! Less flat in the center, as Chris said.

I may go for these, however, if the price is flexible. The fact that they won't need spacers makes them even more competitive. I appreciate all your input.

If you get them, look into getting the BMW center caps. You will need to check the inner diameter but they look nice.

Spacers?

Please do not consider anything that would require spacers...safety, safety, safety.
Of note...on my rears with euro sourced lips, I used valve stems from one of our local motorcycle shops. For sure this worked fine. The local tire shops were baffled. I said "where have I seen this before"...vintage cycles.

I like the look of the early BBS style wheels (especially when they are 3 piece) because they remind me of the coupes I saw racing at Lime Rock when I was much younger. I’m admittedly lazy or too busy to spend a lot of time cleaning my cars and those wheels are a tuff clean so I’d probably pass on them myself. ~ John Buchtenkirch

Exactly

I believe I may be corrected, yet from observation, the BBS was used in most of the racing applications, in the day. The RS three piece being infinitely adjustable. On "Seina" it was my goal to make tribute as well as the art.

Valve stems

One thing I did not know...ran into when I did my wheel rehab. Seems Europeans use a different spec. vs North America? First picture is my fronts and fit a standard valve stem, even the rubber pull in jobs. The second is of my rears with new outer lips sourced from Germany. I used a motorcycle wheel stem for these.
