I am looking for a long thin strip of Elephant skin or a chunk I can slice up. The one ugly area of my paint is just beside the weather strip in the trunk. I hate the idea of painting this silver, so was thinking I would adhere Elephant skin to it with contact cement and it might look a little more finished without the chance of overspray or mismatching Silver. I have had bad luck painting things Silver.

Tia.

i can provide you with some of that elephat skin material, but i would appreciate to know which area you will need to cover

unfortunately i cannot tell that from your description, so probably a pic will help

Hi, I am talking about the thin strip of exposed and painted metal just inside of the weatherstripping in the trunk. I think it might be feasible to make this an area covered by Elephant skin.I would think one square foot would cover it. A piece 2 feet by 6 inches. (60x15 cm) should do it.

I've got a beat-up trunk bin on a '72 Bavaria I'm dismantling - it might have enough good elephant skin to suit your purpose? (although the total length will be closer to 50 cm.). Shoot me an email if interested and I'll take a closer look at it.

My upholsterer used a special cleaner on all the elephant skin in my trunk. It was shabby at best. Then he sprayed it with "grey" spray paint that matches the original color exactly.
My trunk, with its new carpet, looks factory new. Worth a try.
