I think I'd like another option for a shift knob. Have a Wood one now. If anyone has a BMW correct knob or comes across one for sale please PM me.

Tia.

An Alpina knob would be on my list too.

If anyone has one with the BMW script on top or Alpina script, those would be my first choices. If anyone is looking for an all leather Black one, PM STan.

Anyone know if one of the later push on knobs will work decently with our threaded levers?

Tia.

I have the same issue, got a nice 'BMW' wood knob with the later 'clip-on' attachment, but it just won't fit (into the e9 threaded shaft). The later ones have a smaller lumen, probably only by ~2mm. I think a bit of DIY job can make it fit, but I did not want to destroy the nice OEM wood knob.

I've got a slightly chunky leather knob with an M logo on top...send me a PM if interested and I can send a pic. It's a thread on style, worked great in my '69.

The threaded and earlier push-on levers, up to at least E28, are 2-piece - see http://bmwfans.info/parts/catalog/E...pril/browse/gearshift/gearbox_shifting_parts/ and the two parts separate by levering out an internal snap ring. You can replace the top half with either type, to use the knob you want.

Jaymic (website off the air as I type this) had a nice black leather one with the BMW symbol on top in their 2002 catalog. When I bought, their price was better than any on eBay. It fits the E9 threaded stick, and I also fitted a threaded stick to my E28 to use the same type.
