guys, my trunk lock is screwed up, not sure what somebody did to it. no idea if it was the PO or the paint shop, but it is damaged and does not work - except for pushing in. i have another lock, but do not have the key ... and its a total PITA to try to take apart without the key. the key code is CA0236. any chance anybody has this key? i just want to use it to take the lock apart so it can be repinned to my key code and then send it back to you. this applies to e3 and e9 keys. my old e3 key started an e9 coupe at a local dealership (25 years ago)

Mine isn't that code. Could Santa Monica Lock and Key make and send you one? Maybe not worth it.

i checked with getbmwparts and it showed as backordered - realoem shows the part number of a key with a code as part #

i presume that is Santa Monica Lock + Safe, if so - thanks! i have already reached out to them and waiting to hear back ... i followed my own advice and had already read the FAQ - top sources.

Try them....they may have a solution, you never know, possibly send the lock

i am waiting to hear back from SMS+L - i will start with them to send the trunk lock and one of my car keys and get them to rekey the lock to my key.
