Hard to describe but they are about a foot long and have a small notch for the forward backward seat adjustment.

I bought a set from W&N and they look of high quality and nice and perhaps original BMw part. The price is relatively very low in my opinion !
As you have noticed they are chrome covered plastic so repairing them or chroming them is not something easy ! You better buy them before they are gone!

E12/E24 (early)/E28 I believe are the same too if you can find them used.
don't believe the e28 had them. my 533i had an adjuster bar under the seat like the e30. my e12 had power seats, so i don't have a recollection of it having the rail covers.
E12/24 trims don’t have screw holes, they mount with tabs under the seat rails.
