A friend of mine is looking for a crankshaft for a 3.2L CSiL engine - and from what i can tell is different than the standard M30 crank in the 2800cs / 3.0cs / 3.0csi as well as the 2275xxx CSL and the early CSL. real oem tells me its the same crank that is in the euro b34 3.5L engine - part number 11211260202 which was superceded by 11211304928 which appears to be in euro 3.5L in e12, e24 and e23. anybody have one they want to sell?
Did you mean 11211260203?
I don’t honestly know how BMW made the 3.2L. However, it is my understanding that both the M30B28 and M30B30 has an 80mm stroke. The M30B34 has a stroke of 86mm The euro M30B34 got the big piano tops, different cam (afaik), and less emissions - but I think the crank is the same no? From a “math” perspective, I think you could use any 86mm crank assuming you deal with the timing gear (switched to single row on B34).
89mm M30 bore, 86mm M30B34 stroke = 3210cc
FWIW, Perhaps your bud already has a CSiL, but I don’t think you can throw an 86mm crank into a standard 3.0 block. The block walls need to ground to clear the crank during rotation. I suppose that is one of the casting changes that BMW did which led to the 3.2 CSL and other motors.
It’s not well documented (outside of this forum), but the E3 3.3L (nor the 3.3LI) had an 89mm crank. The M30B32 went down to an 86mm, and that is what is in the 3.3LI AFAIK. BMW was clearly experimenting with bore and stroke calcs because the beloved M90 has an 84mm crank.
I really don’t know much about this stuff. Just when I read on here and elsewhere over the years. Perhaps an expert can chime in with more facts.
