WTB: front driver side window motor for late 73 or 74 model

Well, the front and rear e28 motors are different. Is it possible that Bmachine has a front? I've got e28 rears in my e9 and they work great; however, I've never seen what an e28 front looks like. Maybe the protrusion of the gear is part of the difference.
Ok, now that makes sense.
The e28 one I have is a rear I got from Don. I compared it with HB Chris’ via photos and they all look the same in terms of how far the gear sticks out from the mounting points on the body.
Jay, (or anyone else who has done this), did you actually check to see if the motor gear actually extends all the way to the full width of the regulator teeth? (See photos above). I am sure that this setup would actually “work”. At least until the bottom 2/3 of the regulator teeth start to wear out. But maybe that never becomes an issue...

The other possibility is that the late 73 / 74 regulator (which is quite different from the previous versions) mounts the motor slightly further away.

Bo- I have boxes of e28 window motors at the shop, do you want to try another motor? I can mail one out tomorrow.
Thanks Don. I’m sure the e28 motor I got (from you) is perfectly fine. Jay is sending me one for comparison already. I’ll let you know what I find.

Could you please list the part number that is printed on it? Mine ends with 821 027.

Well, that part # sounds right. e28 rear motors are p/n 12V 1730 821 026 and 027.

Front E28 has 10 teeth

That may be, but the rears have 8 teeth (as do the e9 motors). Must use 8 toothed motors to mesh properly with the e9 window regulators.

I’d never make that mistake! Completely unrelated, somehow my tub of misfit parts contains a $125 set of front E28 motors if anyone needs them—going for cheap or less!
