Look for a 1986ish head from a 5 or 6 series. They have machined water jackets with 13mm of space from the exhaust valve. Can try La Jolla independent, Vintage Sports & Restoration, The Werke Shop can also go to mye28 and post a wanted ad there too.

You want:
a newer head with updated coolant passages
a head that has mechanical fuel pump feature
a thick or fat head that still has the cast dimples..

What is really hard is to get the intake port on a later head to match your carb intake ports. Not likely.

the head in the pics is on the shelf.
i ship to Europe.
A fair price for a carbureted later coolant passage within specification head is 1000.00 plus shipping.
Price for an early head with the same design you have that cracks so often is 500.00

I have a refurbished by Jaymic (new valves rockers cam bearings Etc.) from a M30 engine. Available here in the U.K.

early model heads are set up for fuel pumps, late model heads are set up for fuel injection with electric fuel pumps.
early model heads have bad coolant passage design.

the goal is to get a later coolant passage with the early mechanical fuel pump design.

they exist but hard to find.

Out of interest Don what year do you think we go from old (bad) heads to new (good) ones? Saw a 77 stamped head the other day with the fuel pump feature.

635Csi m90 head is fuel injected with early intake port design, later version coolant passage.
easy to spot because of twin cooling holes between cylinders, early port design and “M90“ casted into head

i can’t, but a competent machine shop can. It’s the hole for pushrod that’s the problem. Has to be exact location and angle. Not so easy.
