Depending on what's wrong they can be rebuilt, I disassembled mine, cleaned the contacts, stretched the little springs, repacked with grease, epoxyed and zip tied it back together. So far so good after 2 years.

Gordon,

I reckon that there are two types of headlight switch. Both feature a rheostat action for dimming the dash lights. One has eight pins and a brown plastic base; the other has nine, larger (normal) sized pins and a black plastic base. This latter bears part number 1350151.3. There is also a difference in the "throw" of the switch itself and the screwed bezel is of a larger diameter. Which one do you require? I have one spare of each type.

thanks for the reply

John;
Thanks for the information.
I think I am going to try and rebuild it first.
I am concerned that the dimmer will not work if I just buy another used one.
I will let you know if the rebuild is not successful.
We can discuss a purchase at that time.
I have the 9 pin.

Steve,
Thanks for the pictures.
