WTB heater fan motor

i have a motor alone without the fan blades, you can make a swap with your blades

easier if you find a complete set, if you do not find other way tell me to go this way

heater fan bench test?

Inspired by this topic, got my old heater set-up outta storage and trying to see if the fan still works.

My question: how does one set up a bench test for the fan??
I ran a hot and grnd wire to terminals on fan motor from car but no luck.. motor can be spun manually without pwr, but feels like there is a bit of drag.

Am I missing something?

This project is part of my new 'E9 lounge accessory' series. ;-)

The motor appears to be available new if you're interested. Searching eBay for "Bosch 130 007 002" should get you what you need. These were also used in the heaters for Porsche 914s and I successfully harvested one in a junk yard and put it in my coupe's blower mechanism. The hard parts of the job are the blower wheel and the four little steel clips that seat the motor in its support.

Fan motor

Hi Blinkling,

Yes, I knew that, I also work on a lot of Porsches as well as coupes, also the 2002 motor is the same , I believe.

Hi Shanon,

Check each brush and how it makes contact with the armature, if it is really dirty, the brushes wont make contact or in the case of mine, there is nothing left of the brush holder except for a lup of melted plastic. If the motor gets stuck and power is still being applied, a meltdown is what you get. Check these and spray some penetrating fluid into it, won't hurt the motor as long as you let the excess drain out.

A couple of other board members have PM'ed me about used motors and will probably get one from somebody here rather than e bay.

Thanks, Rick

those clips

yes, about those clips... not present.

got a pic?
where to find replacements?

curious, no rush.

gracious!

This is the clip I was referring to. You can also see two of them in this picture of the fan installed in the car.

heater blower motor

Hi,

Part # for those clips is 64111351356
but I think that they are NLA.

Find an old 2002 and get them from there , they are the same and there are lots of old 2002's around

I have run cars with just three when one gets lost , it works just fine but cannot run with 2. They are way more of a pain in a## to do in house than the coupes, the coupes are nothing to do.

Make sure that your commutator ( sp? ) is clean and not all gummed up with carbon.

Good luck with your repair

Thanks, Rick
