Looking for an oil pan for the E9 / E12 M30 motor. Hopefully in good straight condition....to facilitate the M30B35 swap. Want to keep my original engine intact.

The M30B35 pan won't clear the steering/suspension in an E9. You need the pan from an early M30 with the mid sump.To the uninitiated, please tell me, you cannot use the M30B35 oil pan?
I am doing same, and no clue to what else must be replaced, going Webers, canning the Motronic and F.I.

Pans from top to bottom - M30 from an E3, M30 from a late 80's 735i, M30 from an E28
I use an E28 pan in my E3, so I think it would work in an E9. I removed the oil level indicator and plugged the hole.Th
Does it mean E28 will be nice replacement as it is very similar to the one from E3?
Yes. The E3, E9 or E28 oil pans from an M30 that came in one of those cars will bolt right up to a M30B35. You need to use the oil pump that came with the pan so the pickup ends up in the right place.Would it work on an M30B35?
I am really lost with all these "E" s
