I am restoring my 72 CS and am trying to use original carpet if I can

I have a tiny bit from my car, some from a similar vintage Bavaria and a bit from another local member

This carpet came in the cars with the dark blue seats, not sure what others

It is intermingled blue and grey tufts

If this works out, I will have a carpet person piece together the parts I need

I am looking for pieces that will look new or close to after a good cleaning, so maybe pieces from the rear floor, trunk, transmission tunnel, things like that

Let me know what you might have and what you would want for it

Thanks!

Mark, I think you will find that what is available is a Mercedes blue carpet ... not that similar to the BMW blue. As Alan mentioned, several people on this forum worked with KHM to get an accurate carpet remade ... but it didn't materialize. i should have kept some of the blue carpet i had to see if i could get a BASF or Dupont carpet fiber match in nylon or with a wool manufacturer ... but i think i sent all of the samples i had to people in need a while back.

Hi Scott,
Yes I was following the reproduction carpet and was hopeful for that to turn out, but I guess it isn't happening
What I might try and do is use all original carpet from the old cars, but I think I need to find a bit more
The original carpet, as you know is blue and grey mixed
I have gotten samples from several places and they are not real similar to the original
So if anyone has any good pieces, or advice as to the best new replacement, it would be appreciated

I'm also in the need of this color carpet. I'm missing the right side and floors. I'll go with something non-OEM if I must, but really want to keep an original look if I can.

Ian
