WTB - Tan Pigskin seat material

Definitely pigskin, not vinyl. I suspect that you are right Chris, but hoping someone might be considering a replacement as I am.

Also thinking about harvesting the mater off the back of the front seats as an option. It appears to be an exact match, but also not sun bleached. Replacement of that would have to be with new material. The original plan was for a full replacement with leather (post in the discussion forum).

Please send me a close-up photo.
Is the material vinyl or leather?
Here is a picture that I took of the passenger side (inside)

seat bolster.

@Bez, aren't you still looking for this upholstery?

Thanks to @deQuincey for the outreach, the exact amount needed will require a visit to the upholsterer. Meanwhile, I am searching for a sufficient quantity to do the drivers seat bottom and at minimum one bolster.

Looking again at the drivers seat, the leather is so dry that it is splitting along several of the cushion strips, and the same is happening in at least one strip on the passenger side. I need to see if any treatment (I have several) will bring some life into the material that has been untouched for too long.

Do we know exactly what years of production used the pigskin upholstery? My '73 that I bought in '75 had the pigskin - only coupe I've personally seen with it. Not quite as supple as cowhide, but certainly VERY durable.

I had a 72 until recently that had tan pigskin.
Has anyone looked at buyleatheronline.com ? I know nothing about them other than viewing their site; show tan colored hides, as well as other colors, $36 each hide...hides are very small, because pigs are not cows....duh. Claim to be Italian (most Italian leather products are from elsewhere...Italian tanneries in South America especially, etc...but legally claim to be Italian) but it really doesn't matter if the quality is good. BUT...like leather made for your furniture in your house, it isn't intended for use in a car...it isn't the same as automotive...no UV protection, etc. Might be worth a deeper inquiry.

I just sent them an email and a picture, will let you know their response.

They (buy leather online.com) responded very quickly, here is what they indicated (italics):

To have a color match it would be impossible, since infinite color shading exist

For car interiors we propose only bovine leather, since pig is no more used

So the option would be to reupholster everything with one of these

Given that color match and material is different, it is unlikely to be a good match as an in-fill material, however, I plan on asking for samples and will post an update here. Meanwhile, thanks again to those that have posted or reached out with PM's.
