Wanted: Tii Brake booster.
If anyone has a good one, I would like to install in my coupe with Webers.
Thank you.
Regards,
Alberto

Is it in top condition, as I assume, that is top $. If so I am interested.

Thank you.
Regards, Alberto

Well, got in touch with Matt, the fellow that has all the alternatives to delete the Brake Booster,
an alas, I did not understand anything he said, except send dimensions.

Does the Tii Brake Booster really afford the DCOE's air cleaner to fit effortlessly?

Mine has the pancake version with the center filter a bit dimpled but it works.
Let sleeping dogs lie?

Regards, Alberto

I have the ATE T51 ("tii") brake boosters for sale now that have been professionally rebuilt and already adapted for the e9s. They are $650 plus shipping. And, yes, @aguirola is correct, the days of less than $500 ATE T51 boosters are long gone even on 02FAQ. Also, there are many sellers claiming that they have used boosters in "good" condition that haven't even been vacuum/poppet valve tested. Buying a used booster is always a crapshoot, so caveat emptor.
An historical aside: the "tii" brake booster was first used on the 2000CS, the 2002ti and other BMWs before being installed on the 2002tii and 2002 Turbo.

A LOT of Mercedes from the same era used the Alfred Teves ATE T51 brake booster, anyone know if they’re identical/interchangeable?
Probably multitudes more of those w114/w115/w123 mbz’s in junkyards than our bmw candidates for this part.

I am interested Hal, will it clear the weber DCOE install? How do yours differ, i.e adapted for E9?
What is the diameter of the Tii?

Thank you.

I've looked at a lot of MB ATE T51 boosters and haven't found any that are the same dimensions as the ones used on the BMWs. The critical dimension is the diameter which is indicated in the ATE part number label in the 5th digit where
2 = 6"
3 = 7’’
4 = 8’’
5 = 9’’
6 = 10’’
9 = 6" on some, 9" on others
That diameter is actually ATE's measurement of the size of the internal diaphragm (s), the outside diameter of the 6" version would be closer to 7" and so on.
I've attached a sample label with some explanation of their codes (some of this is speculation as the old catalogs aren't consistent).
A quick search of some vintage MB boosters reveals the differences in sizes of T51 servos out there, see pic.

Also, the market for MB parts would probably command a premium for any brake booster found on the cars.

I must have posted about the same time as you did Alberto! Our rebuilt e9 boosters are designed to be a bolt-on solution to replace the larger diameter original booster. They include everything you need for the conversion.
The ti/tii booster is 7" in diameter while the original e9 is 9". I don't yet have my own CS in hand but there are many threads here about how it solves the side draft air cleaner issue. I have used these to solve that clearance issue on the 2002s for over 30 years and it not only gives you the engine bay room but also adds extra vacuum boost with the dual diaphragms.
