you might try your local BMW dealership. BMW made a run of the box a few years ago. Plan to pay about $300 USD (euro equivalent)

Then when you get the new one, do not store your heavy tools in it. Get a tool roll

I keep My tool box is empty , and put the tools in a empty bag under the pass seat
 
Yes, buy a new clamshell tool box & keep the heavy tools in a roll of pouch. Otherwise it will also break line the old one.
 
I bought a BMW motorcycle tool roll with tools on ebay for ~$100.

I bought a small soft case from Staples for $10 to keep my metal tools in.

I have 3 toolboxes in various states of decay I think the cover on one of them is good, you are going to rerivet it to your base . A large thin washer under the screw helps with the cracking but the most important thing is to never never slam the trunk lid
