set the hood strut and i installed a
5" square steel plate underneath the mount as the metal there is
rather flexible.
im not to concerned about the opening height as
i can just release the top screw and set a plastic rod to work on things.
like the radiator.

oh the sin
so the oem water bottle was way to big for the s38
it hit the spark plug wire tube.
so i had a 450SL bottle that is the perfect size
so i chiseled off the bracket
patched the hole as it needs to go upside down to work
then screwed a few stainless screws in and wa la
new washer bottle that fits
i might trim the mount but i like it oem still

down to seeds and stems for parts
set the rear view mirror, sun visors and
flag mirrors.

bleed the clutch and was happy to find it works perfect.
30.00 was so much better than thew 240 for anew one.
also per a gracious fellow member i was able to rewire the headlight relay base
and get it secured.
im rather upset about florence doing my harness as a lot of it was incorrect
no power to the unit or the fuel relay or the water tewmp or the tach
so i tracked it all down and its all working well now.
so im ready for the tuning.

my wife gave me a trinket gift at Christmas
a- projection led light- that shines a blue and white roundel
so i double taped it to the under rail and wired to the door switch so when the door opens it
reflects the roundel on the ground

installed the borg-warner relay that connects the second battery when the ignition switch is on and
disconnects when key off.
cut up a computer case and made a simple cover
and used some extra elephant skin to cover it.

Don't just hit the dyno where they will run the snot out of your new engine. You'll want to drive it a couple hundred miles first so rings can seat since your engine is rebuilt.

Alan,

Is the back of that diy battery box open? AGM batteries still need to have a vented box. Even though the battery is sealed, it still has vents on it. You can see them on the Optima. Little weep holes on each side of the yellow top.

I'm a bit confused as to why you didn't make it symmetrical and put one battery on the left side instead of on the floor. Or, why not just use one larger battery and set it on the floor? I'm all for ingenuity but this is a little too ingenious for my understanding I guess!

I'd definitely follow bimmerpark's lead on the stripes though. Would really tie it together!

This is a good point. Battery weight should be on the left side or split evenly...So confused.

mostly for storage space so i still have a deep part of the trunk
a little logic here
the minute you get in the car -you have ofset the balance
so this would compensate for that .

Apologies in advance, long boring useless post coming up...
the 2 weeks of snow at my place(where the snow almost never even sticks) has driven my sense of humour even farther around the bend.

But regarding the weight distribution.
Pretty sure fritz and Hans understood that the car would need a driver, that's why you sandbag your car for alignment isn't it?
But what Hans understimated was the majestic physiques North American BMW drivers could develop so its good to have the extra ballast to compensate for the delicate female in the passenger seat. it only becomes an issue when you have to move her to the trunk,
Maybe the 1 big battery should go under the seat, but then you can't see the stickers.
Again, there are almost as many solutions as there are mechanics.:D
